Top Decks

Top decks of a pallet can consist of variable width boards, or evenly spaced boards. They can also be joined or spaced out, depending upon the purpose and intended use of the pallet.

Types Of Block Pallets

Pallets are commonly made by placing blocks inbetween the top and bottom decks. Most pallets use a 9-block layout, but other combinations are possible for custom applications or needs.

The stringerboard connects the blocks to the top deck.

Skids

In block pallets, the bottom deck consists of a series of boards that make up the pallet skid. Block pallets usually have 3 pallet skids or 5/7 pallet skids.

Stringers

Stringers serve as the support of the top deck of the pallet. Small pallets can have as little as 2 stringers, while medium sized pallets typically have 3. Large or pallets that are carrying heavy loads can have 4 or more stringers.

Bottom Decks

The bottom deck of a pallet is formed based upon the pallet type. Two types are illustrated below, a block pallet and a stringer pallet.
